Review JVC GRDVP7U Digital Camcorder w/ 1.02 Megapixel CCD, MPEG4 Video, and 8MB SD/ MMC / JVC DVP7U:

The JVC GR-DVP7 provides mega performance in a micro design. With its megapixel CCD and super high-band processor, this elegant camera delivers rich, true-to-life images with extra-high resolution that will give your videos real panache. Plug the GR-DVP7 into a PC and send live images or video e-mail to friends and family around the world. Loaded with communication features and multiple interfaces, this camera is an ideal tool for multimedia creators who want to bring their images to the world. With its ultra-compact, flat surface design, the GR-DVP7 is as stylish as it is powerful. Small enough to fit comfortably in your pocket or purse without unsightly protrusions, this ultra-stylish camera just begs to be taken along with you wherever you go. The JVC GR-DVP7U is a top-flight digital camcorder in a tiny body, and it's capable of snapping 1-megapixel digital stills. Plus, it's chock-full of enough features to satisfy just about any amateur videographer, including a 10x optical zoom, 2-inch LCD, manual focus mode, and a whole slew of digital effects and faders. Lens JVC put a 10x optical zoom into the GR-DVP7U, which is a good compromise of image quality and zoom power, and should be more than adequate for just about any situation. The digital zoom pumps up the total magnification to 200x, but we recommend using as low a level of digital zoom as you need, as zoom erodes image quality, particularly at high levels. [+]
Digital Stills While many camcorders these days come with some sort of digital still mode, the DVP7U records 1,280 x 960 stills-1. 2-megapixel resolution. This particular resolution is good for a camcorder, and great when you consider the package size the functionality is jammed. Inputs and Outputs The DVP7U comes with the standard IEEE 1394 port for lossless transfer of digital video to a computer, or another IEEE 1394-equipped device, and a USB port for still image transfer. Additionally, the camcorder has an S-video output-for duping your footage onto tape-and analog inputs for archiving your old footage digitally.

Review JVC GRDV3000U MiniDV Digital Cybercam with 3.5" LCD, 16 MB SD Memory Card & High Res Color Viewfinder / JVC DV3000U:

Birth of a new generation: the precision optics that lets you capture your target with the optimum quality, the digital technology that transfers that quality to excellent videos and stills, and the digital savvy to go beyond, so your creativity can take wing, all over the world via the Internet. A new generation emerges from a pure and simple concept. Quality captured, transferred along every step of the way, to your final result. The GR-DV3000 from JVC presents the generation of quality. The JVC GR-DV3000U is a top-flight digital camcorder, and is one of the first with the ability to capture 2-megapixel still images. Plus, it's chock-full of enough features to satisfy just about any amateur videographer, including a 10x optical zoom, 3. 5-inch LCD, and manual focus ring. Lens JVC put a 10x optical zoom into the GR-DV3000U, which is a good compromise of image quality and zoom power, and should be more than adequate for just about any situation. The digital zoom pumps up the total magnification to 300x, but we recommend using as low a level of digital zoom as you need, as a zoom erodes image quality, particularly at high levels. Digital Stills We were pleasantly surprised by the digital still capabilities of the GR-DV3000U. [+]
Many camcorders these days come with some digital still mode, some with a 1-megapixel resolution. The DV3000 surpasses all of them with the capability of recording 1,600 x 1,200 stills, which is 2-megapixel resolution. Admittedly, the stills are interpolated up-the camcorder is equipped with a 1. 33-megapixel CCD-but that doesn't take much of the luster from the achievement. Inputs and Outputs The DV3000U also features a fair number of inputs and outputs, meant to satisfy most consumers. You get the standard IEEE 1394 port, plus S-video analog inputs and outputs for converting all your old footage to digital, or dubbing your footage to cassette.
