Review Orion X-Y Guide Star Finder / ORION:

Deep-sky imagers know that finding a suitable guide star can be a pain. Physically moving your guide scope by adjusting the guide scope rings is unwieldy, at best. With the X-Y Guide Star Finder you wonâTMt have to. It enables you to move the autoguider (or guiding eyepiece) around within the guide scopeâTMs focal plane, bringing more potential guide stars into view and speeding up the process of guide star acquisition. In fact, it obviates the need for adjustable tube rings altogether, eliminating a potential source of image-ruining flexure. With the X-Y Guide Star Finder, you can use fixed tube rings for your guide scope instead â a much more secure configuration. Anyone who uses a separate guide scope in their imaging setup will benefit from the X-Y Guide Star Finder. Its precision X-Y fine-adjustment knobs provide lateral travel of up to 1. 1 inches. The unitâTMs 1. [+]
25" barrel fits into the guide scopeâTMs focuser. An optional 2" barrel is also available (#5270), which allows a wider range of adjustment. The guide camera nosepiece or guiding eyepiece attaches via a 1. 25" barrel with a thumbscrew lock. This is a mechanical adapter, made of machined, black-anodized aluminum; it does not contain any optics. Requires approximately 38mm of inward focus travel. Dimensions: 3. 8"W x 3. 8"H x 2. 75"L (nosepiece to eyepiece holder). Weighs 13 oz. Made in the USA. One year limited warranty.

Review Beattie IntenScreen for Hasselblad 500CM, with Diagonal Split Image / Beattie:

Low available light can be one of the most frustrating conditions in which photographers are forced to work. The lack of contrast and image definition make it difficult, if not impossible, to bring your subject into sharp focus. Heavy shadows, dimly lit rooms and evening shooting schedules often result in soft images, not to mention tired and sore eyes. Beattie Intenscreen bright focusing screens help eliminate these problems making it easier to get the perfect shot. If you have ever shot a wedding, you know that dark churches and poorly lit reception halls can make focusing a nightmare. With a brightness gain of 2 to 2½ stops, Beattie Intenscreen makes a world of difference in medium format shooting.

  • Preserves neutral color balance, eliminating need for corrective color processing later
  • Enhances contrast of all types of deep-sky objects: galaxies, nebulas, and star clusters
  • Suppresses up to 99% transmission of specific wavelengths responsible for light pollution
  • Specialized filter designed for deep-sky imaging in light polluted skies with CCD or DSLR cameras
  • Enables longer exposure times without background saturation due to sky glow
  • Model: Orion SkyGlow Imaging Filter 1.25"

Review Orion SkyGlow Imaging Filter 1.25" / ORION:

Introducing a must-have filter for any astrophotographer that doesn't happen to live on Mauna Kea. With the SkyGlow Imaging filter you can take incredible deep-sky images under light-polluted skies with your CCD or DSLR camera. That's because we custom designed the filter to selectively block the specific wavelengths of light associated with urban sky glow, letting the light emitted from deep-sky objects shine through. You'll see a marked increase in image contrast for all types of deep sky objects, even faint galaxies, which typically are suppressed through visual light pollution filters. By blocking up to 99 percent transmission of the offending wavelengths, the SkyGlow Imaging filter enables longer exposure times without background saturation. Because the white light spectrum remains largely intact, the color balance of the image is not affected, eliminating the need for corrective processing later. The improvement in contrast achieved with the SkyGlow Imaging filter is remarkable. Just look at the adjacent filtered and unfiltered actual image examples. With this filter you can take long-exposure photographs faint galaxies, nebulas, and star clusters from a light-polluted city, or from a suburban back yard brightened by a nearby street lamp. Your images will turn out better than you ever thought possible. [+]

Key features ORION
  • Makes framing and focusing celestial objects for CCD imaging as easy as flipping a switch!
  • Accepts 1.25" eyepieces (not incl.); nosepiece or T-thread connection to 1.25" telescope focuser
  • When object is focused in the eyepiece, just flip the lever and you're ready to snap a CCD image
  • Designed specifically for use with StarShoot Deep Space Imagers and similarly sized CCD cameras
  • Find and focus your target visually through an eyepiece, instead of by tediously taking pictures
  • Model: Orion Imaging Flip Mirror

Review Orion Imaging Flip Mirror / ORION:

Rather than having to take numerous photos to locate and focus your target, the Flip Mirror lets you do those things visually with an eyepiece. An internal mirror deflects the incoming light 90 degrees up into the eyepiece. A helical fine focus mechanism on the eyepiece holder lets you set the eyepiece focus to be parfocal with the camera. Then, once you've focused the object in the eyepiece, a flip the side lever drops the mirror to allow the light to enter the camera, rendering a sharp, focused CCD image. The Imaging Flip Mirror was designed specifically for use with StarShoot Deep Space imagers and similarly sized CCD cameras, for which it provides full sensor illumination. Male T-threads on the unit's metal housing allow direct attachment of the CCD camera body. The housing itself connects to a telescope's 1. 25" focuser or adapter via the nosepiece, which alternatively can be removed to expose T-threads for direct coupling. The nosepiece is threaded for 1. 25" filters. [+]
As convenient as it is for CCD imaging, the Imaging Flip Mirror also lets you enjoy visual observation when you want to take a brief break from shooting pictures. Maybe you want to catch an eye-full of that bright planet before it sets. You can do so without having to dismantle your camera setup! Why not streamline your astro-imaging routine and take an occasional break to enjoy the views while you're at it? Get the Imaging Flip Mirror today!.
