Key features SBIG
  • The ST-402ME has better read noise, lower dark current, higher QE, and greater dynamic range
  • The KAF-0402ME imaging sensor is 75% larger than the ST-237A's TC-237
  • The ST-402ME has an enhanced cooling package that will improve the cooling delta by approximately 10° C
  • Model: SBIG ST-402ME Single Sensor, Lightweight USB 2.0 Camera with KAF-0402ME Class 2 CCD, Enhanced Cooling

Review SBIG ST-402ME Single Sensor, Lightweight USB 2.0 Camera with KAF-0402ME Class 2 CCD, Enhanced Cooling / SBIG:

The new ST-402ME is a simple and easy to use yet powerful camera. The ST-402ME uses the same Microlensed, Blue Enhanced, Full Frame KAF-0402ME CCD as the ST-7XME camera. The array is 765 x 510 pixels at 9 microns square. The same technology that is used to achieve such high quantum efficiency in the KAF-3200ME CCD is also used with the same effectiveness in the KAF-0402ME CCD. With a peak QE of nearly 85%, this camera bows its head to no other when it comes to recording faint detail in dim objects. A full frame download takes less than a second with the new USB 2. 0 electronics. Focus mode updates the computer screen about 2X per second. The small size and light weight makes this camera very easy to handle and set up. A custom internal filter wheel and shutter lets you take dark frames and tri-color images automatically. [+]
Best of all, the low noise and extraordinary QE of the KAF-0402ME CCD makes this one of the most sensitive CCD cameras available to amateurs at any price. Simply put, there is nothing that can touch it in its class. This single sensor camera is designed for light weight, low cost and high performance. The ST-402ME is so sensitive, one is virtually guaranteed to find a guide star in the field of view no matter where it is pointed using SBIG's small eFinder accessory lens (1" f/4). The ST-402ME's internal relays allow the camera to autoguide almost any commercial telescope with an autoguider port. It will also control an external Relay Adapter.

Review SBIG STL-11000MC2, with 11.0 MP Monochrome Kodak KAI-11000M (4008 x 2672) 9u Imaging Aray, Dual Sensor, Class 2, Research Series CCD Camera / SBIG:

The Research Series Self-Guiding CCD cameras from SBIG represent a new step forward in the field of astronomical imaging. These cooled, large format cameras leave nothing to be desired in the way of features and functionality. The Research Series cameras support a variety of imaging sensors. The 11 megapixel STL-11000M with interline CCDs offer large imaging areas, excellent anti-blooming characteristics and high pixel density at a reasonable cost. The CCD used in the 11 megapixel STL- 11000M camera is a full 35mm format CCD. These cameras are excellent choices for wide field imaging with short focal length scopes. The built-in guiding CCD is a TC-237H frame transfer device with high sensitivity and a 657x495 pixel array. The built-in filter carousel accepts both 50mm unmounted round filters and filters mounted in 48mm threaded cells. Filter selection is accomplished with the camera control software. The front cover of the camera is easily removed for changing filters. [+]
Since the CCD is in a separate sealed chamber, removal of the front cover to change filters does not expose the CCD to dust or air and the desiccant does not need to be recharged after replacing the cover. A shutter mechanism is also located inside the camera body, between the filter wheel and the sealed CCD chamber. An internal 12VDC regulated power supply is added to the camera for simplified power requirements and greater tolerance of input voltage variation. When operating in the field fro.

Review Tele Vue Focusmate Driver Universal, Variable Speed Motor Drive for Tele Vue Scopes with a Focusmate attached to the right side or the left side / Tele Vue:

For visual or CCD use, focusing a Tele Vue telescope can now be smoother, more accurate and vibration - free when you add the Focusmate plus the new Focusmate Driver. This adjustable speed electric motor drive installs easily onto the Focusmate 6:1 fine focus unit, and offers a unique quick disconnect for switching (without tools) between electric and manual operation. If the Digital Micrometer Kit (DMK-0002), is also installed, measurement is possible to an unprecedented. 0001" (1/10,000"). A gentle tap on the motor direction switch can produce steps as small as about. 0005" (5/10,000"). All Tele Vue scopes having focusing knobs with 5 holes will accept the Focusmate 6:1 reducer and the Focusmate Driver. All current production Tele Vue scopes from the TV-76 through NP-127 now accept the Digital Micrometer Kit, as well, so that their fullest imaging and visual performance can be realized. Truly, focusing will be "even better than you imagined.

  • 1/4" CCD, progressive scan
  • Model: The Imaging Source 640 x 480 FireWire Color Telescope Camera

Review The Imaging Source 640 x 480 FireWire Color Telescope Camera / Imaging Source:

With up to 60 fps, this astro CCD camera is ideally suited to color astrophotography, in which very fast sequences of images are captured. Using the shipped software - IC Capture. AS - you can capture lossless and uncompressed images sequences as AVI files. The telescope camera DFK 21AF04. AS generates a fast stream of uncompressed color images. In order to transfer these to the host PC, a very fast bus is required. Hence, the camera is fitted with a FireWire connector. IC Capture. AS performs color interpolation on the raw color data (RAW format) from the CCD chip. This reduces the load on the camera processor. [+]
Should, on the other hand, the camera be installed on a host PC in which the CPU is not particularly fast, color interpolation can be performed by the camera itself. In this case, the maximum refresh rate is 30 fps. Alternatively, should color interpolation not be desirable at all, AVI files can be written in RAW format. The telescope camera DFK 21AF04. AS uses a modern color CCD chip (ICX098BQ, progressive scan, manufactured by Sony). It outputs a resolution of 640 x 480 pixel at a 1/4" format. Even at long exposure times, its noise is minimal. The high quality of the CCD chip also permits its deployment in scientific image processing applications. The CCD camera DFK 21AF04. AS is equipped with an IR cut filter that blocks wavelengths above 700nm. Thus, its properties are similar to those of the human eye.

Review Celestron Astro Solar Filter for Celestron Omni XLT 127mm & Nesxtar 5 SE Telescopes / Celestron:

Celestron Solar Filters are made with Baader Astro Solar Safety Film. Far superior than any existing glass, Mylar or polymer filters, they lead to brighter, sharper, and higher contrast images. Enter the millennium with the finest solar filters available. Astro Solar Safety Film is clear and homogenous and attains the optical performance of high quality plane-parallel glass filters-it is diffraction limited! Double-sided metal coatings have uniform density and good color balance across the entire field ensuring razor sharp images from edge to edge. The Sun appears in its "real "color -neutral white, not blue or orange ,and the sky adjacent to the solar limb is jet black. You can see detail in sunspots, bright faculae near the limb and the mottled areas known as granules with these filters. The Sun offers constant changes and will keep your observing interesting and fun. Even small aperture telescopes can enjoy features of the Sun. The Astro Solar film is completely safe and durable (won't break like glass if dropped). Its rating is ND-5 which means that the film transmits 1/100,000 of visible light (. [+]
001%) while reflecting (blocking) 99. 999%of unwanted light. The film absorbs all ultraviolet rays while coating reflects infrared light rendering both absolutely harmless. For added assurance, Baader Astro Solar film has been declared safe for direct solar viewing by the German National Bureau of Standards for eye safety. Celestron has previousl.
