  • Mirrors in this 90-degree diagonal are polished to yield maximum performance
  • 2" diagonal for refractor telescopes
  • Fits 2" focusers, accepts 2" eyepieces and includes 1.25" eyepiece adapter
  • Model: Orion 2" Mirror Diagonal, Refractor

Review Orion 2" Mirror Diagonal, Refractor / ORION:

Many observers prefer to use a good-quality mirror diagonal instead of a prism diagonal with high-end telescope systems. The mirror in these 90-degree diagonals are meticulously polished to yield maximum performance. Housings are made of black-anodized aluminum. Barrels are internally blackened. Each 2" diagonal accepts both 2" and 1. 25" eyepieces (with included adapter). The 2" eyepiece holder as two locking setscrews for maximum eyepiece security. These diagonals render images that are right-side up and reversed left to right (therefore, not recommended for terrestrial observing). Diagonals are not recommended for use in reflector telescopes.

The Orion StarShoot AutoGuider's sensor is a high-resolution, 1/2" format 1. 3-megapixel CMOS monochrome chip, with 5. 2µ x 5. 2µ pixels for highly accurate guiding. That high accuracy due to the small pixel size means you can use the AutoGuider with smaller, less expensive guide scopes than is possible with other guide cameras (such as the now-discontinued ST-4). The chip resides in a super-compact, anodized aluminum housing that measures just 2. 5" wide by 2. 35" long and weighs a mere 4. 4 oz. It has a 1. [+]
25" nosepiece that can be removed to access a T-thread interface. And the AutoGuider's short inward focus requirement of only 15mm from a typical 1. 25" Plössl eyepiece makes it compatible with virtually any telescope. The StarShoot AutoGuider's incredible ease of use will appeal to beginning and experienced astrophotographers alike. The included software requires no previous knowledge of autoguiding. It offers automatic calibration and guiding with literally a single mouse click. The camera is powered via your computer's high-speed USB 2. 0 connection with the included 10' USB cable; no other power source is needed. A 6' RJ-12 cable is also included to connect the AutoGuider to the mount without the need for an additional RS-232 adapter. Review Lumicon 1.25" Oxygen III narrow bandpass Filter for 1.25" / Lumicon:

The renowned, original Lumicon OIII narrow bandpass filter (11nm) isolates just the two doubly-ionized oxygen lines (496 and 501nm lines) emitted by planetary and emission nebulae, while blocking the rest of the overall spectrum of light. The result is extreme contrast between the black background of space and the delicate photons of OIII light needed for near-photographic views of the Veil, Ring, Dumbbell and Orion nebulae, among other objects. See for yourself - it's truly amazing what the OIII filter allows you to see! Lumicon tests every filter individually on a Perkin-Elmer Double-Beam spectrophotometer, inscribing on the filter its % transmission for each of the primary lines. Not intended for photography (use the Lumicon Deep Sky Filter).

  • Allows you to capture targets that are considered trophies of visual astronomy
  • Best used with a moderate to large aperture telescope and clear, dark skies
  • Threaded to fit 1.25" eyepieces and diagonal barrels
  • Perhaps the only way to see the faint and elusive Horsehead, California, and Cocoon Nebulas
  • Selective band-pass filter transmits only the hydrogen-beta light these faint nebulas emit
  • Model: Orion Hydrogen-Beta Nebula Filter, 1.25"

Review Orion Hydrogen-Beta Nebula Filter, 1.25" / ORION:

Our Hydrogen-Beta Filter may be the only way to see the faint and elusive Horsehead, California, and Cocoon Nebulas. It blocks everything but the hydrogen-beta light these faint nebulas emit, providing the contrast needed for viewing. By isolating the hydrogen-beta spectral line centered at 486. 1 nm in a 12nm band-pass and blocking other wavelengths, it effectively blackens the background sky, allowing the faint nebula to become clearly defined. It increases contrast even under dark skies so you can visually capture these prized targets. Use with a moderate to large aperture telescope under clear, dark viewing conditions. Threaded to fit 1. 25" and 2" eyepieces and diagonals.

Review Sky Atlas 2000.0, 2nd Deluxe Edition by Wil Tirion (Author), Roger W. Sinnott (Author) / Books:

A good atlas is essential for travel. This excellent atlas will take the voyager on a journey through the night sky with unparalleled ease and accuracy. The long-awaited second edition of Wil Tirion's superb Sky Atlas 2000. 0 offers 43,000 additional stars with all positions now derived from the Hipparcos database. The atlas opens out to reveal 26 charts, each one 20 inches wide and 15 inches deep. This large format allows the stars, nebulas and galaxies to be displayed with unrivaled clarity. For this edition, improved isophotal (objects with same light intensity) maps are used for the Milky Way, and extra charts for crowded areas of the sky have been added. Within the constellations, Flamsteed numbers identify the brighter stars by name, while NGC and Messier numbers are used for nonstellar objects. Color coding and size graduation are used to visually convey the maximum information on star types and brightnesses. This atlas is an indispensable aid for all users of astronomical telescopes.
