Tele Vue PMT4201 Weight: 1.4 pounds List Price: $395.00 Price: $310.00

Key features Tele Vue PMT4201
- Telecentric operation (field rays leave parallel to optical axis, unlike Barlow lenses which diverge rays). This is ideal for Hydrogen-alpha filter use such as with Daystar models.
- Flexible for visual and imaging with all types of telescopes and eyepieces. Essentially Parfocal, and with nearly constant magnification regardless of image distance behind top surface (except 5x model which increases 1x for every 35mm of image distance increase).
- High performance for image amplification, CCD or film (some of the finest Earth-based planetary imaging is being done with Powermates).
- Vignetting, edge field aberrations and pupil movement - all introduced when using Barlows with long focal length eyepieces, are minimized.
- Higher magnifications are possible with high optical performance compared to "doubling up" Barlows.
- Model: Tele Vue 4x Powermate Barlow Lens 2".
Review Tele Vue 4x Powermate Barlow Lens 2". / Tele Vue PMT4201:Tele Vue Barlows: "An Optically Perfect Window " Properly designed Barlows do wonderful things. First, they amplify power while retaining the eyepiece's eye-relief. Second, they slow the telescope's f/#, which improves eyepiece sharpness. Third, the designer can introduce compensations for eyepiece aberrations. The 4X Powermate Barlow is a 4-element parfocal, compact amplifying lens system. POWERMATE consists of a negative achromatic doublet plus a positive "pupil-correcting" doublet. While it looks and functions like a Barlow, your eyepiece will operate with pupil locations where the designer intended, avoiding mismatch problems. POEWRMATE optimally mates its power to your eyepieces. No additional "interface lens" is needed, since POWERMATES have it built-in. In addition to full multi-coating, POWERMATE includes other Tele Vue special touches such as a safety undercut on the chrome barrell, and captive lock screws that can't fall out. [+]
Tele Vue's 100% QC program at f/4 insures that POWERMATE will add dramatic power (and NOTHING ELSE) to your favorite eyepieces. If, for example, you own a 22mm Panoptic, you'll have the power of a 5. 5mm with the 4X POWERMATE! The 2" 4X POWERMATE is threaded for 48mm filters. Dobsonian/Newtonian owners using Tele Vue's Paracorr coma corrector should place the 2. 5x or 5x POWERMATE (or Tele Vue 2x or 3x 1-1/4" Barlows) into the Paracorr's 1-1/4" adapter (i. e. , between the Para. |

Review Tele Vue Barlow Lens, 2x, 2" (Big Barlow) with Brass Clamp Rings. / Tele Vue BWC2200:Properly designed Barlows do wonderful things. First, they amplify power while retaining the eyepiece's eye-relief. Second, they slow the telescope's f/#, which improves eyepiece sharpness. Third, the designer can introduce compensations for eyepiece aberrations. Tele Vue's 2" 2x BIG Barlow, 1 1/4" 2x and 3x Barlows were envisioned as magnification windows. Multi-coated high index glasses assure optimum aberration correction, exceptional contrast and virtually no light loss. Tele Vue Barlows achieve their design goals even when tested by the fastest scopes. They even improve our competitor's eyepieces and telescopes! For eyeglass wearers, the Big Barlow is perfect for doubling the power while retaining the eye-relief of 2" Tele Vue eyepieces such as the 55mm Plossl, 35mm and 27mm Panoptics (requires use of Panoptics Barlow Interface) and 20mm Nagler Type 2. Our design approach includes mechanical conveniences. The Barlows are parfocal with our eyepieces and the BIG Barlow includes a parfocal 2" - 1 1/4" adapter. [+]
The BIG Barlow is threaded for 48mm filters and has a captive lock-screw. Both 1 1/4" Barlows are threaded for 1 1/4" filters. Barlows do more than just increase magnification; they also retain eye relief (or in the case of long focal length eyepieces, actually INCREASE eye relief). A high quality Barlow must be properly designed and manufactured in order to avoid compromising a telescope's color correction and spherical aberration corr. |

Review Tele Vue Eyepiece Caddy Set. / Tele Vue TEC1018:These sleek little brackets attach with thumb screws, to the yoke arms of all Tele Vue mount heads, keeping your eyepieces safely and conveniently at your fingertips. The set holds three 1¼" and two 2" eyepieces. The 2" holes have removeable 1¼" inserts as well. The Eyepiece Caddy Set is highly recommended for all our mounts. The Panoramic and Gibraltar accesory trays are great, but they don't hold your eyepieces securely, like a Caddy, if your tripod gets bumped in the night! And once you experience the convenience of having a Caddy, bending to reach for an eyepiece will seem like a big inconvenience! The Tele-Pod does not offer a place to hold eyepieces. so the handy caddies will be a truly welcomed addition. The Caddy brackets are made of 3/8" thick aluminium and are powder coated for extra durability. |
